How To Apply

To apply for a grant, please first check the Frequently Asked Questions below:

Who can apply?

Community Grants: We will consider applications from any not-for-profit organisation located within Brighton & Hove carrying out work which meets our criteria, and which directly benefits the City’s residents.

School Grants: Any Church of England school, but we favour those that have a connection to the Trust’s founder, Fr Wagner. Applications need to be for specific projects, items or activities – e.g. Bibles for the school library or other educational resources or school outings.

Church Grants: Any Church of England church in Brighton & Hove, though we favour those that have a connection to the Trust’s founder, Fr Wagner.

How much can we apply for?

Community Grants tend to be in the range of £500 to £3,500 and very exceptionally, up to £5,000.

School Grants tend to be in the range of £500 to £3,000.

Church Grants tend to be in the range of £100 to £500.

What type of funding do you provide?

Whilst the trustees prefer to provide grants for specific items, resources or projects, they will consider making grants towards running costs if a compelling case is made for doing so.

Do you provide multi-year funding?

Most grants span one year only. However, we recognise that many charities are struggling at the moment, and because some projects can take time to become established, the trustees are willing to consider making grants that cover two, three or even four years.

When can we apply?

The trustees meet twice a year, usually in mid-May and mid-October. As such, the deadlines for applications are 31st March and 31st August respectively.

How do we apply?

To ensure your organisation is eligible to apply to The Community Trust for a grant, please ensure you have carefully reviewed the above FAQs and information about our grant-making ethos.

Charities and churches should download and complete our Community Grant application form here.

Schools should download and complete our School Grant application form here.

Completed applications should be emailed, along with your latest trustees’ report/annual accounts, to ctbvm.applications@gmail.com

When can we reapply?

In order to discourage dependency on the Trust, we request that current and previous grantees do not re-apply within one full year of a grant or grant cycle ending.

If your application is unsuccessful, please leave a gap of at least 12 months between an application being declined and the submission of a fresh application.
